VENUES
I’m excited to announce that on September 17, 2007, the Orlando City Council approved a new name change for the city owned and managed entertainment venues. The venues, formerly known as Orlando Centroplex are now officially Orlando Venues. The Amway Arena, Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre, Florida Citrus Bowl, Tinker Field, Harry P. Leu Gardens, Mennello Museum and Public Art will continue to diligently serve you, as we usher in A NEW ERA OF

ENTERTAINMENT
On July 26, 2007, thanks to the leadership of City of Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and Orange County Mayor Rich Crotty, along with City and County Commissioners, Central Florida has elevated itself towards becoming Florida’s top city with the approval of a new sports and entertainment arena, performing arts center and renovated Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium

The entertainment venues initiatives will be a catalyst for attracting the world’s most highly coveted tours and acts, while serving our partners, the Orlando Magic, Orlando Predators and newest family member, the MISL Orlando Sharks soccer league at the new events center. Our arts organizations, Festival of Orchestras, Orlando Ballet, Orlando Opera, Orlando Philharmonic and Suntrust Broadway Across America Orlando will soon have a performing arts centre where our region’s performance arts can showcase their talents. Furthermore, the renovated Citrus Bowl will allow Florida Citrus Sports to attract major-college football games, neutral-site games and other exciting sporting opportunities. In addition, a renovated stadium could draw outdoor concerts and festivals.

Central Florida’s arts, sports and entertainment landscape will forever evolve as we look ahead towards opening a new events center, new performing arts center and renovated Florida Citrus Bowl. This initiative positions itself to be the single, greatest regional impact on this community.

Here’s an overview of what you can expect from your community venues.

NEW SEASON
These are very exciting times for our community! Another reason to be excited is the start of the Orlando Magic Season along with our newest family member, the Orlando Sharks (MISL Soccer League). Both teams commence the 2007-2008 season in October and play through April 2008.

We continuously seek new ways to better serve you. We recently installed Ticketmaster Kiosks which offer patrons the option to purchase tickets and/or pick up your Will Call tickets. At this time, Will Call is the only available. There are two Ticketmaster Kiosks adjacent to the Amway Arena Box Office, located on the east side of the venue and one Ticketmaster Kiosk next to the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre.

Immerse yourself in the diversity of Orlando’s cultural and performance arts with our resident arts organizations: Festival of Orchestras, Orlando Ballet, Orlando Opera, Orlando Philharmonic and SunTrust Broadway Across America Orlando. Orlando is fortunate to have such talent in our community, so be sure to visit the Arts & Theatre section of our website.

Finally, I am thrilled that our very own Florida Citrus Bowl will be hosting WRESTLEMANIA 24 – The Biggest Wrestlmania Under the Sun on March 30, 2008. TICKETS GO ON SALE NOVEMBER 3 AT 10 AM!
